12 week check up

Today was our 12 week check up! Dr. Sandmeier (one of the OBGYNs) was unable to hear the heartbeat so to our disappointment (NOT!) we had another ultrasound. Oh baby!! This child was flipping and kicking and moving all over!!! And of course, there was a heartbeat. 171 bpm. The technician thought maybe it was a little fast because I was nervous...nervous? Heck, I wasn't nervous. I was excited! This child of ours was showing off!!

The top of the ultrasound says 10.2 cm which equals about 4 inches. The tech didn't do a head to rump or head to foot measurement that I saw, so I'm not sure where this measurement came from. 4 inches is huge!! The things I've read for this week say baby should be 2-3 inches, somewhere around the size of the end of a credit card or the size of a pacifier. Hmmm....
