What a GORGEOUS time of year!! I am known for loving summer - it is my favorite season. I love the warm sun, the relaxation I feel in my parent's pool....you know, all the things I've previously talked about. :) But I do also really love fall. It's fall days like today - cool and crisp air in the evening and mornings but warm enough during the day that pants and a light jacket are the perfect outfit. I love fall sweaters and boots (by the way honey, I need to update my wardrobe of boots), I love a night of City High football wrapped up in a blanket, I love the smell of soup in the crock pot, the fall colors of the trees....I could go on and on.
I've had the most glorious weekend at my parent's house this weekend. I know I sound like a broken record, but I really love being here. Kellee had homecoming this weekend and my birthday is Monday so we came back to IC for both.
We had a really great time at the City High game last night and Silas was so entertained by the band, the cheerleaders, the other kids and the football players. He danced, he climbed the fence, the went up and down the stairs, he ate cheerios and snuggled under a blanket with Mommy...he had a blast!
Today we walked in an Alzheimer's fund raiser with the City High dance team girls.
It was a cool morning, but great for walking and Silas enjoyed himself. He's such a good sport! He liked seeing all the "puppies!" people had and was satisfied munching on cheerios and listening to music while we walked.
Then we had a great afternoon with Silas' great grandparents.
He spent lots of time outside helping Papa, Great Grandpa and Great Uncle James pick apples from the apple tree and getting a ride on Papa's "tractor". Silas is completely into tractors right now so he was in heaven getting to ride on Papa's today. He points them out when we're driving or walking by one and can see them coming a mile away.
He is also still obsessed (and I don't use the word obsessed lightly...it really is an obsession right now)
with driving cars. He begs to go outside and then once we're outside, he begs to get up in the driver's seat. He'll repeat over and over "car, car, car, car, car" or "bye-bye, bye-bye, bye-bye" while shaking his head yes in attempts to get us to agree. So of course Silas' Great Grandpa Leonard has a soft heart and let Silas get in his car. Silas thought it was great and loved when Great Grandpa handed him the keys! He even got to play in his Great Uncle James' Corvette for a while too!
Silas loves looking at his tractor and animal books right now and frequently likes to read them. There is a picture of spider in his book and when he points out the spider I say, "Ewww!! Mommy doesn't like spiders!!" Well don't you know, Silas has started saying "Ewww!" when he sees a bug or spiders. It is so hilarious to hear that high pitched "Ewww!" come from him. We had a bunch of spiders on our front porch area so I brought the hose out one evening a started to spray them down. Silas would see a spider and go, "Ewww!" and I would say, "Let's get it!" and spray it and then he'd yell, "ALRIGHT!" I so wish I'd had someone there to video tape it because it was absolutely hysterical to hear him. I know, I know...I'll have to toughen him up when it comes to bugs before Kindergarten. ;)
Silas talks so much now and I would say that majority of the time he can communicate with Jake and I about almost everything. He's great at repeating words to us and once he hears something, he can usually repeat it. I am continually amazed at the words he knows and that we can communicate so well with him.
Kellee and I had a little photo shoot before Josh arrived to take her to Homecoming. I thought you'd enjoy some of the pictures. :)
And last but not least, Josh & Kellee:
It was absolutely precious to watch him go up to our neighbor's houses, pick out a piece (or 2) or candy and then say, "Thank you!" What joy it brings to a mother's heart to hear her child use manners, even sometimes unprompted. We only made it to a few houses - Silas really wanted to eat every piece of candy he got but he and Daddy had a fun time passing out candy at home too. 
which have hardly used. He wasn't really thrilled with it at first until we made a game of Mommy chasing Daddy and Silas and then he squeeled with delight. We walked for over an hour and Silas and Jake skipped rocks into the river. I got some darling pictures of Silas playing in the leaves. We kept trying to get him to walk with us and finally realized we weren't in any rush to get home so we just took our sweet time and let Silas run, throw leaves and discover nature. We had a great time - I wish we had a few more months of this nice weather to enjoy so we could do more nature walks and let him discover the great outdoors.
