Buuurrrrr!!!!

Okay, Janurary has finally hit in the state of Iowa. So hard to believe we reached 60 degrees on Tuesday and today the wind chill is 5 below zero. OH MAN! Silas and I hit up the playplace at the mall yesterday and Backyard Adventures today (a place with a bunch of outdoor playsets set up inside for kids to play on) to burn off some energy.

Last week we reached a beautiful, sunny 67 degrees on January 5th (I think that was the date) so Silas and I spent a good 2 hours at the park near our house. It was a super sunny day so even Silas sported his sunglasses. How cute is he?? We were able to enjoy the day without coats or even jackets - both in pants and long sleeved shirts...which really, by the time we got the park I was actually hot! The warm weather gave me a serious case of spring fever...although today has been a huge reality check that it's still January. Boo!!

By the way, Silas and I are going with my family to Jamaica in March!!! Jake has a fitness conference in California the same time we're going and he opted to go to that (for business sake) so instead of sitting at home along, we're headed to Jamaica!! I'm so excited to get away to somewhere warm...heck, Florida would've satisfied my desire for warm sand, sun, and a tan but Jamaica it is! I can't complain!!

Silas continues to take interest in going potty in the toilet and in fact peed on the potty for the first time yesterday. Jake and I really have done very little encouraging for potty training except to let Silas watch us go and talk about it often. Silas sits on the potty a few times each day so I think we're making progress. He really loves to wipe himself. :)

Silas is still a chatter box and has started a new phase a couple weeks ago where he is completely a Daddy's boy. He's fine with me until Daddy comes home and then it's "Daddy home!" and I'm chopped liver. ;) It's breaking my heart that he's such a Daddy's boy and prefers to rock with Daddy at night ("Daddy rock") but I keep telling myself it's just a phase and that he'll be back to a Mommy's boy in no time....after all, I've had 21 months of him being a Mommy's boy so it's probably Daddy's turn now for a bit. But only for a bit. ;)

There hasn't been much to update about lately but I'll keep trying to update you when new things arise. Hope you're staying warm!!
